Au Pied de Cochon x Hooké Collaboration - Hooké

A Québec Encounter: the Au Pied de Cochon x Hooké Collaboration

When two worlds deeply rooted in Québec’s land come together, the result can only be delicious. It’s in this spirit that the collaboration between Hooké and Au Pied de Cochon was born: a special edition maple syrup created to celebrate the Canadian sugar shack tradition.

Rooted in tradition, Hooké x Au Pied de Cochon maple syrup captures the spirit of our forests and rivers. It’s the very essence of maple — pure energy for hunting, fishing, and outdoor enthusiasts. A taste of our heritage.

The Origins of the Project

The missions of Au Pied de Cochon and Hooké are closely connected. For several years now, our paths have crossed through different projects and encounters. A natural connection developed, driven by shared values: respect for the land, appreciation of its resources, and a desire to celebrate what makes our culture so rich.

A collaboration quickly felt like the obvious next step. Why not join forces around one of Québec’s most iconic products: maple syrup?

Because you don’t change a winning recipe, the Au Pied de Cochon sugar shack canned one of its finest syrups, while Hooké gave it a unique visual signature. The result: a can that celebrates both flavour and the collective imagination of sugaring season.

A special edition to enjoy with family… and to keep as a collector’s item.

The Iconic Au Pied de Cochon

Founded in 2001 in Montreal by Martin Picard, the restaurant Au Pied de Cochon quickly became an institution of Québec gastronomy. With its generous and unapologetic cuisine, it brought renewed prestige to local classics while helping democratize refined ingredients like foie gras.

In 2008, the adventure expanded with the purchase of a property in Saint-Benoît-de-Mirabel and the opening, the following year, of the Cabane Au Pied de Cochon. There, the famous sugaring season tradition was reimagined while launching the production of their own maple syrup.

Since then, the project has continued to grow: a cidery from an orchard of more than 500 fruit trees, new gourmet products, spirits, and a variety of initiatives celebrating Québec’s terroir. Today, Au Pied de Cochon products are distributed in more than 500 locations across Canada, always with the same mission: showcasing a cuisine that is proudly Québécois, rooted in the land and its heritage.

The Creation of the Label

For this special edition, Hooké wanted to design a can that would instantly evoke memories of sugaring season.

The inspiration comes from childhood moments spent at the sugar shack: the smell of warm syrup in the air, steam rising from the evaporator, boots full of mud after running between the maple trees, and maple taffy poured onto fresh snow.

The colours and illustrations intentionally evoke that nostalgia — a warm and timeless aesthetic reminiscent of traditional Québec sugar shacks. It captures the spirit of family outings, long shared meals, and the simple pleasures that come with the arrival of spring.

A can that celebrates both a local craft and a collective imagination that brings us together.
